CONJUNTO DEL EJERCITO SOVIETICO

“CONJUNTO DEL EJERCITO SOVIETICO”

(SOVIET ARMY CHORUS & BAND)

Conducted By Colonel BORIS ALEXANDROV

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Angel Records very first High Fidelity Stereo press released in Chile in 1964 by Angel Records, made and distributed by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records), licensed from Columbia Records, UK, through Angel Records, USA (uncredited), catalog number 3SACX-47227, with machine etched matrix numbers -YAX-A-75 D6 // II2 N (“N” inverted) in Side A and -YAX-X-76 L9 N4 (“N” inverted) in Side B (I see other symbols, maybe numbers and/or letters, but it’s not clear enough to know what they are), with traditional golden/black Angel Records labels of the period, with big Angel Records logo at top. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“Soviet Army Chorus & Band”, conducted by Colonel Boris Alexandrov, was originally released in 1956 and we had to wait until 1964 to see this great album by the Soviet Army Chorus & Band released here in Chile (this album was released here in Chile in the ‘50’s like 2 10” albums, “Vol. I” and “Vol. II”, with 17 songs, if it was only released like a LP, I’ve never seen a copy) and, like usual in that period in Chile, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER made of 2 single pieces of thin cardboard with two sheets of paper attached (not glued) to the cardboards for front and back covers and kept all held by an outer plastic bag which’s also part of the cover. If you know this album you could have already noticed that here in Chile, we also got an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN. Front cover has a very simple design of a picture of the Soviet Army Chorus and Band, with the name of the band in Spanish only (in English, “Soviet Army Ensemble”), with the credit for Boris Alexandrov as director, the word “Stereo” at top right corner and the Angel Records logo at bottom center. Back cover is blank, without pictures as original release, with all text written in Spanish and introduction of each song, also written in Spanish, except songs “Tipperary”, “Kalinka” and “Bandura”, with full credits for Boris Alexandrov as Art Director, for Konstantin Vinogradov as Chorus Director and for Vladimir Alexandrov as Musical Director, with Angel Records logo at bottom left corner. In labels, the album title is written in Spanish only and song titles are mostly written in Spanish only too, except the same 3 songs already informed, with full credits for songwriters in the cases applicable, with cash price, “E° 14”, informed in Side A (with a little paper factory glued above the catalog number), and tax law applicable. So, here you have the chance to get and own another rare pressing of a famous album released in Chile with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and with all text written in Spanish only, a record not many times seen and now maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time. A MUST TO HAVE for all lovers, fans and collectors of traditional Russian Folk music and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of the Red Army Ensemble and/or the direction by Boris Alexandrov!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX- or EX condition, clean and complete, with some wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with evident age browning and some faint blemishes. The outer plastic bag is present and it’s in VG- or VG condition, with a part missed in back cover, ripped when the original owner opened it to get out the record, with some little rips in back cover and a bit dirty, but has worked very well protecting the fragile papers as you can see in the pictures, so I guess it’s a good idea to keep it. The record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with some scuffs, light hairlines and some soft little scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX+ or NM- condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong G+ or VG- condition both sides, not so loud as I had expected, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), but with constant soft and not so soft crackles and regular light and not so light clicks, which will cause some distraction during most of the record. The record looks better than it sounds, so maybe this record could need a deep ultra-sonic cleaning, I guess I’ve not could remove all the dust of the grooves. Overall, this is still a great record, the cover is nice, but for sure this is not for Minty minds or audiophiles, my graduation is clear for sound quality, only about G+ or VG- condition, the record keeps a nice glossy look and almost immaculate labels, but it’s a bit noisy. I think it still keeps a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 60 years, with no jumps or repetitions, so it shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this MEGARARE very first Chilean Stereo press, with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, a record almost never seen!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
