Elmore James - The Best Of Elmore James

(Sue Records ILP 918 UK Mono LP 1965)

This is a UK original Mono LP pressing. Distributed by "Island Records" in the UK. It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve. It comes with its original generic polythene lined company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has textured yellow & red "Sue Records" labels. The record has 1st press ILP 918 A/ ILP 918 B matrix stampers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax.

This is an excellent & influential mid 1960's Blues UK LP release. Most of his classic tunes are on this LP. These recordings are from the 1950's. I have some other rare & collectable 1960's & 1970's Rock, Folk, Blues etc... UK Original LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings.

Sleeve: There is some moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is a 2 cm seam split at the bottom edge - at the sleeve opening. There are two minor 0.5 cm hairline tears at the rear sleeve opening edge. This is at the centre. There are a couple of pin-head sized tears at the front sleeve opening. There is some light, mild or very mild finger-tip staining on the rear sleeve on some areas. There is a small area of wear on the bottom flipback - at the sleeve opening. There are about 9 or 10 small & light hairline creases at the spine area. These measure from 1 cm to 1.5 cm in length. Otherwise, the spine is okay. The spine text is clearly legible. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. Overall, Good++ condition

Vinyl: There are two light or very mild hairline surface marks on Side 2. These are not too noticeable under a strong light. There is a small finger sized area of several small (1 cm) hairline surface marks at the start of Side 1. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good condition. The labels are in Near Excellent condition & show mild spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good minus condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There is more moderate to moderate fading. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good overall & Very Good+ in many places. There is some light or very minor "hiss" in the background to a varying degree. It is not too noticeable, & only really notices in the quietest places. It never overpowers the music. It is often inaudible. Otherwise, there is some light, mild, very mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There are no clicks or pops. Overall, a very serviceable audio copy.
