READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles-Related 1975 LP ADAM VIII John Lennon Sings the Great Rock and Roll Hits ROOTS, EX!
I’m not playing games with you, I honestly can’t tell if this is the TV-only mail order item, or a VERY faithful reproduction. I’ve seen bad repros before, but I’ve never seen another original, so I have very little basis for comparison. This copy features:
1. The correct title on the spine.
2. The correct-sized labels, as opposed to the oversized labels of the fakes.
3. There is definitely something etched on the Side 2 label, I just can’t make out what it is.
4. The cover is made from poster board, rather than cardboard.
The label etching is the only thing that makes me question, not having another copy to compare. If this is a repro, it’s very well done.
No original inner sleeve or flyer present, sorry.
Let’s err on the side of conservative, and say that this copy is a nice repro, okay?
Vinyl--- EX/EX. Each side has two or three very light lines that cannot be felt with the fingertip.
Plates--- A-8018-A hand-etched/ A-8018-B hand-etched. Both sides have the “Bell Sound” machine-stamp, and the hand-etched “Joe.”
Cover--- VG+. Has some light dirtwear, some minor wrinkling. NO RINGWEAR. Correct title is printed on the spine. See photo.
Labels--- NM/NM. Appropriately-sized label has the correct concentric groove as well. Side 1 has the light etching.
Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
Check out my other auctions for more hard-to-find vinyl!
