READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles Related LP 1983 PROMO with Paperwork Heart Play John and Yoko Interviews, NM!
(Relisted due to non-payment from herlupi_0.)
If you care about interviews and are a big fan of the best ones from The Beatles, this is one of the best and most important ones to date.
**Almost a bookend to the historic “Working Class Hero” interviews from 1970, this interview from 1980 is the polar opposite. Whereas John was angry, cynical and sharp-edged in the 1970 interview, he’s light, funny and insightful in this one, having been through the grinder that fans know too well.
**Whereas the “Working Class Hero” interviews from 1970 included a lot of John’s silly new age philosophy such as talking to aliens, his philosophy in 1980 has been tempered by fatherhood and maturity, away from the rock and roll lifestyle.
**Each interview surprisingly includes John talking about his fears of getting shot. In 1970, he says that “John and Yoko are willing to be the world’s clowns, because all the serious people got shot.” In 1980, he has changed that thinking to, “I’m a pacifist, but what does it mean when you’re such a pacifist that you get shot? I can’t understand that. I can’t work it out.”
Two days after this interview took place, none of us could understand it.
Originally issued as a budget LP in 1983, this is the scarce promo copy on virgin vinyl, and with both inserts.
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Vinyl looks completely unplayed.
**PROMOS were pressed in virgin vinyl. Commercial copies were not. See compere photos.
Plates--- 1AS-PRC-S-1-1/ 1BS-PRC-S-1-1
Completely different plate numbers than the commercially-released copies.
Cover--- EX. Beautiful cover. The only barely visible wear is some shelfwear to top and bottom seams. Not much at all.
Front cover has price sticker from a used record store I used to haunt until the day they closed.
Back cover has the gold promo stamp from PolyGram.
Insert 1--- NM.
a letter from Yoko, describing all the bands from the LP. Some commercial copies also had a copy, but not all.
Insert 2--- NM.
a letter from The Rock Department at PolyGram Records to the DJ’s in New York. Interestingly, it contains the first reference to the “Milk and Honey” album, which wasn’t released until the following year.
**This letter was not released to the public.
Labels--- NM/NM. Very different labels than the ones used on commercial copies.
**No Ono Music Logo
**No Side 1 and 2 Designations
(See compere photo.)
This copy has the same label on both sides, but the content is continuous, rather than repeated.
NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Inner Sleeve--- EX rice paper sleeve.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
