READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP 1966 Meet the Beatles HTF 4th Pressing Jax, STUNNER STEREO Copy Shrink, EX!
(This is a relisting from a few weeks ago.)
If you’ve been searching for the rare first pressing with no ASCAP or BMI on the labels, you’ve no doubt seen plenty of copies with 1 BMI and 3 BMI labels. But how many can you remember that had 2 ASCAP, and the rest BMI on the first label with the small Capitol logo at the 6 o’clock position? These are from 1966, and they were not in the shops for very long.
NOTE: This configuration of ASCAP and BMI is the final one. From the 1969 “Subsidiary of…” pressing through the end of the vinyl run on all reissued labels, you’ll see this one.
**Don’t believe me? Search “Meet the Beatles” on eBay, and check the first two pages at least. Continue on if you’re not bored. They’re just not out there.
Vinyl--- EX/EX. Both sides have just a very few extremely light lines. Others would grade this copy NM, and they’d be right. SO close to a brand new-looking album! Both sides absolutely gleam like new!
Plates--- W9/X10. Machine-stamped letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.
(To date, although they’ve been reported to exist, I’ve never seen an LA copy.)
Cover--- EX. Cover is in very strong condition. Light yellowing on the back. Some shrink is missing there, maybe a quarter of the shrink, all the way down. All seams and spine are muscular-strong. Small push-ins at top and bottom right, NO SPLITS.
Breathe Holes--- There are no breathe holes in the remaining shrink.
Labels--- NM/NM. Labels look freshly-printed!
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- NM. Capitol tan inner sleeve is present, and it also looks freshly-printed, 1966 brand new. Razor-sharp edges, NO SEAM SPLITS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 4
After the scarcest first pressing with no ASCAP or BMI credits, this is the one you should be looking for. Not as scarce, but certainly not an easy one to find.
**To my knowledge, the Jacksonville plant was the only plant to print these labels, and for not a very long period of time!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
