CLAUD DeBUSSY LA MER SET/ 4 VINTAGE 45 RECORDS CAPITOL RECORDS BRUSSELS SYMPHONY
Description
Record 45's Set of 3 La Mer by Claude Debussy
According to the bio brochure enclosed:
Debussy was a characteristic child of his time. In Paris, his short-legged heavy-set figure, clad in cape and a large felt hat, became a familiar sight in the cafes of Montmartre. The revolution which was going on in art and music was his favorite topic, on which he would discourse while drinking English ale and rolling his own cigarettes. His insurgence against the traditional composers was expressed in his preference for attending the circus rather than listening to music, even though he held the post of music critic on several Paris publications.
Despite this life of apparent artificiality and Bohemianism, Debussy was keenly sensitive to every pulse beat of Nature. The sea held tremendous fascination for him and for some time he had taken it for granted that it would become his career. But his life was spent entirely on dry land, and his only sea voyages consisted of a few necessary crossings of the Channel to England. Nevertheless, Debussy never lost his love of the sea and it became the protagonist in several of his compositions, climaxed by the three symphonic sketches which constitute “La Mer.”

Note: Records seem to be in unbelievable good shape for there age. There is a small amount of minimal scratches and do not appear to be of concern. We do not have a record player to test them but in recalling the many 45 I had as a youngster, the scratches showing on some of the records are minor and do not appear to have caused damage to playing them.
