More facts: It has been well publicized that Nirvana’s debut album Bleach was recorded in Seattle at Reciprocal Recordings for $606.17 A thousand copies were pressed all on white vinyl which were released as SUB POP 34.
Today on the record collector’s market one copy sells for more than it costs to make 1000 of the original that was released on June 15,1989. On August 8 1989 Bleach was repressed on black vinyl limited to 2,000 copies.
Like their white vinyl counter- parts the licorice color run was left unnumbered. Remember of the many million copies of Bleach sold this album is from the first black pressing of Bleach and lies numerically between 1,001 and 3,000. Seattle’s SUB POP (B.P / J.P.) didn’t have much financial success until Nirvana came along. If the touring van broke down it wasn’t unusual for SUB POP checks to bounce.
