PRINCE BUSTER – "The Message Dub Wise" (Buster LP)

Condition Sleeve: generic

Condition Vinyl: EX

One of the earliest and most crucial dub albums ever coming from Jamaica! This is an early, a very early Jamaican pressing, as sold in Buster’s Orange Street record shop in the late 70’s.

(I got my copy there at the end of ’79. It wasn’t on offer there anymore at that time and they unearthed one somewhere under the counter!). Etched into the run out grooves is:

Buster-LP-1 and Buster-LP Side 2

I remember that this came without the copied and stamped Melodisc sleeve at the time and was sold only in a plain cardboard sleeve with “The Message” in marker

scribbled on it. I believe its from the second run of presses, the first one (‘73/’74) being on the red & yellow Buster label, this is on the red & white one.

Over the next few months I’ll be listing a very substantial Reggae collection that is heavy on Roots, Studio One, Ska and Dub.

There's also a smattering of early dancehall.

What is truly stunning about this collection is the condition of the majority of these discs, many of whom look as if they’ve never been played.

There’s mainly original presses to be found here, every reissue will be described as such. So be sure to add me to your favourites!

A word about grading... Being a buyer AND a seasoned collector myself, in other words one who deals with the drug he’s taking,  I grade conservatively based on the following criteria:

SEALED = like a virgin!

NM = like new or near new.

EX  = still a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss, but may have a few more light surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks which should NOT effect play.

VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or very light scratches. It probably plays with a few pops and a slight crackle at times, but has no serious problems.

VG = a well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, ticks, pops, etc.

VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes your way.

G+, FAIR, etc, etc... the ones I NEVER sell...
