Out of the Blue is the seventh studio album by the British rock group Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), released in October 1977. Written and produced by ELO frontman Jeff Lynne, the double album is among the most commercially successful records in the group's history, selling about 10 million copies worldwide and reaching the top five on album charts in seven different countries and becoming the most highly regarded album by ELO. 

Side three of the release is subtitled Concerto for a Rainy Day, a four track musical suite based on the weather and how it affects mood change, ending with the eventual sunshine and happiness of "Mr. Blue Sky" which is inspired by Lynne's own experience.

The large spaceship on the album's cover (by now symbolic of the group) was designed by Kosh with art by Shusei Nagaoka. It was based on the logo Kosh designed for ELO's previous album, A New World Record, and looks like the space station with a docking shuttle from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).

• Still Sealed (SS) 

•Mint (M): Superior Quality – Super clean flawless vinyl, usually unplayed. 

•Near Min (NM) t: Near perfect, super clean, possibly unplayed. 

•Excellent (EX): Very minor flaws, Very clean vinyl and labels with perfect sound quality. 

•Very Good Plus (VG+):  A used copy with more obvious signs of superficial wear that does not affect sound quality. Very Good Original sound and reasonably cared for. 

•Very Good (VG):  A used, reasonable copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and light surface noise in spots.

•Good (G) or Good Plus (G+): Record: Will show considerable wear and tear, with surface noise and scratches. May also be slightly warped but should not skip. 
Jacket: May suffer from spine splits, discoloration/heavy ring wear, writing, or sticker damage.

•Poor (P) and Fair (F): Record: The album is still playable, but with heavy scratches and surface noise and may possibly skip.Jacket: The front and back may be torn, stained, ripped and have major writing or tape marks.
