Description: In the late 50s/early 60s, Joe Loco and crew were one of the hottest bands on the scene. His records were big sellers and thus are some of the most common Latin LPs you find today. So when I came across this record at one of my local Salvation Armies a few years ago, I was very surprised that (a) hadn't heard of it and (b) could find very little online about it (the only result is a Billboard article from 1961). From what I gather, Joe Loco flew to the Phillipines around 1961, liked the music, and decided to record a set of 12 "folk" tunes in a Latin style. The album was then released locally on Villar records to litte fanfare and forgotten in time. Musically, it is your typical Joe Loco fare - pretty piano noodling over Latin rhythms. Nonetheless, still a solid album and an interesting artifact. Check out the soundclip. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL, NOT A REISSUE/REPRESS.
