Since the original German recording label Deutsche Grammophon merged their classical recording catalog with another company in 1999 many classical recordings are being reissued on CS and vinyl. Last year pianist Krystian Zimerman’s recording of Chopin’s 1988 classic recordings of 4 Ballads was reissued by Decca Classics (Universal Music Group) on 180gram vinyl. This copy of Zimerman’s Chopin is not a US reissue or the German import but the original1988 licensed first edition on BMG (Better Music Group) and out of print on this label.
Positively still has a new sealed unsold back stock copy that you can buy right here. The record jackets dictate the history for comparison. On the 1988 original cover (photo) in the upper left corner you’ll notice -Digital Recording- which is conspicuously absent on the reissue. Also the lettering DIGITAL AUFNAHME, is not the same size on the reissue front cover. Domestic original has no barcode-referenced by upper right corner catalog number-423 090-1
