Grading Chart: Please use the images provided for reviewing the condition of the label, sleeve, cover and vinyl. I grade as follows:
Near Mint – Vinyl is just extremely problem free and the label is near perfect. The record itself looks almost new but may have some very minor flaws such as a drill hole, there will be no writing on the label, a couple of very minor scuff or scrapes on the vinyl, and the record itself must play very clean for this rating. Usually I reserve this rating for new old stock LP's
Excellent – The label may show wear from use, a sticker or writing, more scuffing, scrapes, and light scratches. Some minor warping of the vinyl. Audio will have noticeable surface noise, but nothing that would detract from the enjoyment of listening to the music.
Very Good + – This record embodies most characteristics of the Excellent rating but had just enough VG characteristics that I couldn’t grade it higher.
Very Good – These records will typically – but not always – have writing and ring wear (see photographs). The vinyl itself will have a variety of scuffs, scrapes and scratches that are visible under normal lighting. It may have noticeable warp. The play on this record will be consistent with background noise that is present, but does not in any way detract from enjoying the record itself though in an occasional spot, my be more prevalent than in most of the song.
Good + – These records exhibit some of the characteristics of a Good rating but not quite enough to get a very good rating. These records may have just a bit more surface noise when played. The record is will still be a pleasure to listen to, it will however exhibit more frequent distractions in background noise. Unless it is a rare LP, these are normally tossed.
Good – Records in this grade will appear very well used with multiple major or excessive minor flaws that impact sound quality to include multiple skip points. Audio in this grade is what I would call terrible. Some worse than other, but enough so that the background noise may play at the same level or above the music itself. This is a rating that if purchasing a record, you are buying it as a place holder in your collection or because the record is so rare, having it in any condition it is still worth having. Like Good+, unless it is a rare LP, these go to the trash bin.
