In early 1969 Delaney & Bonnie signed to Elektra and recorded their
second album 'Accept No Substitute'. Soon George Harrison offered to
sign them to Apple Records for the UK and Apple planned to release it as
'Delaney & Bonnie & Friends'. With masters supplied by Elektra
and new title 'The Original Delaney And Bonnie', even before sleeves
could be made, it went into production at EMI with a scheduled release
date of 30th May 1969. However the pressing of the album was
immediately stopped and SAPCOR 7 withdrawn as Elektra revoked and voided
Apple Records's contract; only acetates and a few advance copies with
finished labels were ever made.
'Accept No Substitute' was released
on Elektra later in 1969, the UK edition issued through Polydor was
pressed by Phonodisc Ltd.
