Self titled 1st album

Atlantic 1969

This is a first pressing from 1969 with the necessary ‘Superhype’ credits on the labels.

The sleeve is VG with plenty of age related storage and handling evidence but retaining a decent solidity and vibrancy and a lovely readable spine.

The vinyl is covered in light marks with some additional more visible marks and has clearly been played a lot. I have now listened to this a couple of times and while there is a varying degree of background noise throughout, for me it only interfered with my enjoyment of the music during the acoustic intro to ‘Babe I’m Gonna Leave You’. There are other passages which seem barely affected - the back end of side 2 for instance - and nowhere does it skip or stick so while this is not the perfect copy there is life in it and is more than just a collectible piece of vinyl. A note on the vinyl: this being a 60s press means that it has quite a heft to it and a resilience that I imagine isn’t matched by later, lighter mass produced vinyl.

Still a listenable copy!
