* RECORD ALBUM GRADING CRITERIA

NEAR MINT - Records are shiny, with no visible defects. Spindle marks, as well as writing, stickers or other markings are not allowed. Covers have no creases, ring wear or seam splits of any kind.   EXCELLENT - Records may show some slight signs of handling and wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches. Covers will have only minor wear. Seam splits up to 1" long are permissible. May have original music store stamp, but no extraneous pen or pencil markings.   VERY GOOD - Records lack most of the original gloss found on those that are NEAR MINT or EXCELLENT. Groove wear is evident, and scratches are deep enough to feel. Minor writing, tape or a sticker maybe present. Covers will have noticeable signs of handling. Ring wear, creases, seam splits, writing and stick-on labels are all permissible.   GOOD - Records can have more noticeable groove wear, spindle wear, label soiling/wear, and writing. Cover defects include moderate to heavy handling wear and soiling, ring wear, multiple seam splits, and extraneous markings.   FAIR - Records can have significant groove, spindle, and/or label wear. The record surface is heavily scratched. Cover defects include handling wear, soiling, water stains (but no damage), significant edge and corner wear, writing, 50% seam split, But still 100% legible and complete.   POOR - Records can be cracked or warped. Covers are significantly damaged - more than 50% seam split and/or broken corners.
