For sale is a vinyl record by The Carpenters titled "The Singles 1969-1973", originally released in 1973 by A&M Records with a gate-fold cover presentation that has an embossed "Carpenters" in gold across the front cover. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is etched a "T1", followed by the matrix numbers T-1/T-2, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this first edition at Columbia Records' pressing plant located in Terre Haute, Indiana. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into an archival inner sleeve. This preserves the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. There is no original inner sleeve include with this listing. Included is 11" X 8 1/2" 12 page booklet that has the lyrics and background stories for each song. It is graded as Very Good Plus because of corner blunts, a bent corner and some wrinkling along the spine. The cover is graded as Very Good Plus because of corner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs, stress cracks along the edges. The spine has color loss at the corners from these blunts and along the edges from rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Very Good Plus because of a few faint sleeve marks and fine line surface scratches, but without any scuffs or smudges. There are some light spindle marks on the labels. I'm play grading it as Very Good Plus because of low level surface noise, more noticeable during the quiet sections of playback, but not over-powering the music. It plays all thr way through without any pops, skips or lock-ups from start to finish. You would still be hard pressed to find an original copy of this record, especially with the 12 page booklet, in this condition because it has become so rare. I have more Pop albums, as well as records of all genres in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
