For sale is a double vinyl record by Billy Joel titled "Greatest Hits Volume I & Volume II", originally released in 1985 by Columbia Records with a gate-fold Presentation. According to the liner notes, this record was mastered by Ted Jensen. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 2-D/1-H/1-D/1-E, followed by machine stamped "Sterling" and an etched upper case "G1", indicating that this album was mastered at Sterling Sound of New York City, New York, before early stampers were used to make this record at Columbia Records' pressing plant, located in Carrollton, Georgia. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound qualities. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned them on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put them into archival inner sleeves. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the record. There are no original inner sleeves with this listing. The cover is graded as Excellent because of minor corner blunts, small stress cracks along the spine and faint ring wear. The spine has a little damage to the corners from these blunts and in the middle are a couple of fine line spots of color loss from stress cracks. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint, with surfaces that are shiny and bright, in alike-new condition, without any sleeve marks, surface scratches, scuffs, smudges or spindle marks on the labels. It looks like it was just unwrapped and appears unplayed. I'm play grading this record as Near Mint, without any surface noise, lock-ups, pops or skips from start to finish. It's been played on state-of-the-art audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life left to it. This is the best copy of this release that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find another copy like this one, especially a Carrollton pressing. I have other Rock and Roll records, as well as albums of all different genres, listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing.
I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
