ARMAND MISHRE - amar rasta - AMAR RECORDS 231049

Suriname hindustani albums are often very eclectic, probably inspired by Bollywood soundtracks which are just that, but Armand Mishre (aka Amar Rasta) takes it to a whole new level with his custom sound. On this album he combines reggae, disco, Bollywood and so forth into a smooth, dreamy cosmic mashup that is kind to the ears while some tracks work well on the dancefloor. The sleeve mentions 'intezaar, reggae, calypso. disco - the best of the west Indies' and vocals are by Armand and his sisters (?) Abieda and Nasreen. Unfortunately he only ever seems to have recorded one LP and a single. This LP has become increasingly rare, and you won't find another copy as clean!
