Hania Rani - Inner Symphonies LP NEW SEALED
Hania Rani and Dobrawa Czocher it is the youngest ever Deutsche Grammophon a female composer duo associated with this company. They started making music together at a very young age, discovering an instinctive artistic bond between them. Both artists are successful musicians now, but that special bond
remains unchanged. "There is a lot of kinship between us." - Hania Rani. “When you are siblings, you can be honest. We trust each other. " Dobrawa Czocher
This sense of mutual trust and understanding inspired their debut album for DG. Created by a composer - pianist and vocalist Hania Rani and a composer and cellist Dobrawa Czocher, recorded in the Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin, Inner Symphonies is their first full album of original songs to be released October 15, 2021.
The first single, Con Mhere, appeared on July 16. The music video for this piece, shot in one of the oldest theaters in Poland, Stary Theater in Krakow, will be released on July 21, 2021.
The leitmotif Inner Symphonies there is hope. Especially during blockade caused by the pandemic, Hania and Dobrawa supported each other and motivated both as friends and musical partners.
"I remember when Hania mentioned to me that her grandmother used to say:» Spring will come, that's for sure«. The world seemed to fall apart when we started working on this album, but we were hoping for a better future.
It was very good to have Deutsche Grammophon on your side and to feel the support of this team. It gave us the freedom to develop our music. " Dobrawa Czocher
work on Inner Symphonies It started with online talks, and then, when they could finally meet in Gdańsk, it started spontaneously. The final artistic shape of the album emerged from the exchange of ideas and numerous improvisations, which were the basis for building individual pieces.
“We had a lot of time to talk, to ask what we really want now, what music is for us. This time was really precious for us. We also had a lot of fun. We practiced yoga and went for walks in the woods. " recalls Dobrawa.
Their love for the natural world is reflected in the album, along with themes of friendship and hope. Contrasting pieces work together to create a unique, introspective world of sounds, ranging from slow, mysterious beauty Whale's Song after the dizzying movement Con Motowhose restless energy is magnified by a delicate melody, emerging among the motor flows of the piano and cello parts.
"Con Moto (mobile, lively), as the name suggests, was our attempt to imagine the force that every living matter embodies. The repetitive rhythms of the instrumental parts, their pulsation, energy and dynamics were our tools to create this piece. It was especially interesting to compose something that contrasted so much with the situation we were all in during the lockdown.
Con Moto it is therefore also our ode to freedom. "
Hania and Dobrawa signed a contract with Deutsche Grammophon on May 26, 2021, shortly after finishing work on the album Inner Symphonies.
Recordings of songs for an album Inner Symphonies took place in the hospitable interiors of the Philharmonic Mieczysław Karłowicz in Szczecin.
“The basis for the implementation of Hania and Dobrawa's new musical project is their talent, confirmed by their artistic achievements, to which we were not indifferent, the more so as the Philharmonic's institution is linked by friendly relations with both artists. Following the album "White Flag", which captured our hearts, Dobrawa Czocher joined the cello group of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Szczecin, thus providing an impulse and a basis for the creation of new, inspiring projects. Our imagination knows no bounds, the only limitations are time and space, which are always missing. The moment of the pandemic slowed down many planned activities of the Philharmonic, we used this time to make our dreams come true. Overcoming all the often breakneck difficulties caused by the epidemic, we managed to provide the artists with the golden Philharmonic Hall to record this unique musical project. " Dorota Serwa / Director of the Philharmonic Mieczysław Karłowicz in Szczecin.
In an atmosphere of peace and total concentration, under watchful care, despite the pandemic raging around, Hania and Dobrawa could realize their artistic vision. The excellent acoustic conditions of the concert hall brought out the duo's virtuoso artistry and musical sensitivity.
"We feel great joy and pride that the project will soon see the light of day, and the Philharmonic could participate in it, especially since we were the first to experience the effects of the recordings, during the third edition of the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM 2020 festival, when the premiere performance of works from upcoming album. We are glad that in a moment everyone will be able to experience the extraordinary sensitivity of talented artists. In a way, we feel a bit of initiators of this phenomenal album. " Dorota Serwa / Director of the Philharmonic Mieczysław Karłowicz in Szczecin.
