THE LITTER $100 FINE" (U.S.SUNDAZED) 2016 SEALED GREAT LP
This band must have one of the finest guitar sounds I’ve heard from the 1960s. Very enjoyable stuff. On this, their second album, they offer a mix of originals and covers, and pretty much succeed on all of them. There are, however, three obvious highlights: the driving opener ‘Mindbreaker’ (an original) is really contagious and should have been a hit in the rock charts; their cover of Procol Harum’s ‘Kaleidoscope’ is particularly psychedelic and proves to be a treat to the ears; and finally their cover of The Zombies’ ‘She’s Not There’ is an extended, transportive jam that gets very close to The Doors (maybe a bit too close, but I’m not complaining) and that ends the album in the best possible note. The remaining tracks are not as impressive but they are all enjoyable, including a blues-rock song with harmonica that seems a tad out of place here but that is nevertheless well done. Even the short noise track ‘Apologies to 2069’, which some would call filler, includes some nice, interesting sounds, so that it won’t sound like a complete waste of time.
