OFF-THE-CHARTS RARE Apple / Capitol two-sided 8 inch acetate, presumably from 1971, with Sour Milk Sea given the master number X71851 and Fall Inside Your Eyes master number X75810, which corresponds with four different pressings of the 45 (all on Apple and all from 1971) according to Discogs.  Sour Milk Sea was written by George Harrison when the Beatles were in India and was even demoed in May of 1968 for inclusion on The White Album but was eventually left off and given to Jackie Lomax with Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo all performing on his version (along with Eric Clapton and pianist Nicky Hopkins!).  To the best of my knowledge, this song has the distinction of being not only the first song that Harrison gave away to another artist but also the ONLY non-Beatles song in the history of the band to feature three out of four Fabs, making it a rarity among rarities.  This was also the first song to feature Harrison in the producer's chair, a role he would revisit often for artists subsequently signed to Apple.  Originally released in August, 1968 with the Harrison-produced The Eagle Laughs at You on the B-side, the song was a very minor hit and only reached the top 30 in Canada.  Perplexed by the song's failure to make an impact, The Beatles were so certain of the song's hit potential that they re-released it in June of 1971 with the Lomax-penned (I) Fall Inside Your Eyes on the flip.   This acetate, therefore, most likely dates to the 1971 period in the history of Beatles' label.  The disc is in VG+ condition with a light scuff on side B.  Apple / Beatles acetates are exceedingly scarce and rarely come up for auction so don't sleep Fab collectors.  I have been collecting for 40+ years and own some Beatles discs to die for but this is undoubtedly one of the crown jewels in my collection and quite possibly a one-of-a-kind Beatles rarity.  Don't miss your chance.  Due to the rarity of this disc I will only send it with additional insurance and extra reinforcement so please wait for an invoice.
