This is The Pink Floyd's 1st album on the Columbia blue and black label in Stereo. This is how the Floyd should be listened to, the separation and phasing is amazing.

This record is one of the very first maybe 300 copies or so off the presses denoted by the stampers 1G and 1G. Not only that but it is also factory sample demo disc either for quality control purposes or even sent out to record reviewers or DJ's. The sticker is adhered to the A side label.

The labels are very nice indeed with no writing etc on them. The vinyl surfaces retain a good sheen to them but there are some careless handling marks maybe caused by an errant fingernail etc. and some small hairlines/bag rash scratches, however I have just replayed the record in full on headphones and can report no playback issues meaning no jumps or sticks. There is the occasional pop and some static crackle in the run ins and quieter moments that a professional clean may eradicate but this doesn't interfere too much to the listening pleasure. There are pops running through some of S1, T2 Lucifer Sam but not tracking issues.

The cover is constructed with 3 flaps and printed by EJ DAY that very early copies were. The cover is dated 6709 so September 1967. The "file under" statement is missing from the rear of the cover again that early copies were. The front fully laminated panel is really nice with a few small creases under the laminated from handling and storage. The rear non laminated panel is very nice too with no writing. The 3 flaps are complete with no missing areas. The spine is fully readable and the opening edge is in excellent condition. There are no tears or writing on the cover.

The inner sleeve is the black and white generic EMI version. There are a couple of small splits and a name and LP title on the reverse. As these inners are generic it could obviously be replaced but as it is the original I've left be. The record will come in a white poly lined inner.

Catalogue no. SCX 6157.

Just to sum up this is a very significant Pink Floyd record being their 1st and so early.
