Why Japanese Pressings? Better Quality Materials, Gatefold Covers and Inserts in most releases, The cool and intriguing OBI strip, the often included bonus tracks not included in other markets, the mastering differences, the Posters and freebies in many records and more, make owning Japanese Vinyl Editions something very cool. Many domestic markets in the late 70’s often used recycled vinyl which created a noisier pressing, they would continue to use a stamper for very large pressing runs without replacing and would use cheaper materials in the production of the covers and inserts. Japanese record companies, on the other hand, used virgin vinyl to manufacture their records resulting in dead-quiet, high quality, audiophile grade pressings and generally had much smaller pressing runs for their western releases. Significantly better materials was also used for the covers and artwork resulting in 30 year old jackets that are thicker, that look significantly better than anything you can buy in store today.
Grading Explained:
Near Mint / NM Sealed Jacket sealed shut in shrink wrap; disc sold ungraded or "as is". Appears unplayed and will bear no marks, sleeve scuffs, or scratches. We seldom use this grade Excellent / EX May have one or two visible imperfections (i.e. sleeve scuffs, faint scratches, or other superficial marks) that will not affect play. Very Good / VG+ A few visible imperfections. These may include sleeve scuffs, light scratches, or other superficial marks. May have the odd audible click in quieter sections.
