Very rare original 1960 mono copy of Lightnin' Hopkins release "Lightnin' And The Blues" on Herald Records HLP 1012.
This is an incredibly rare record and the disc is in nearly pristine condition. Considering this record and it's musical significance, musical quality, and the condition of the actual disc, this copy is a fantastic find for any collector.
The music of Lightnin' Hopkins is unmatched and this LP is one of his finest! It's a compilation of Herald recordings released in the 50's as 7-inch singles. Excellent music throughout.
Runout info. and other identifiers: Matrix / Runout (Label A): HLP 1012A Matrix / Runout (Label B): HLP 1012B Matrix / Runout (Runout A): HLP 1012-A LW Matrix / Runout (Runout B): HLP 1012-B LW Runouts are stamped except LW which is etched. See photos above.
Record: NM. This LP is in excellent condition with a fantastic shine and hardly any noticeable marks or scuffs. Due to its age and the time it was produced there is a hint of surface noise during the quietest passages, between songs, etc. The playback this LP offers is excellent. Very hard to find a disc in this condition. Very well cared for and stored properly. Play tested, sounds great.
Cover: VG/VG+ Considering it's age this cover is in very nice condition. The front image is clear and vibrant with no markings, tears, initials, etc. The cover is still fully intact and the only sign of age is along the spine and edges of the LP. The back cover has some ringwear, fading, and is more noticeably aged. This cover is well preserved and still looks great. See photos above.
