Rosa Mota's multi-dimensional sound is born of the strength of five distinct individuals with an idiosyncratic view of music, art and life. Utilising clarinet, flute, basouki and Indian banjo alongside bass, drums and three guitars they make music to stir up the senses and fire the imagination. Inspired by such diverse stars as Patti Smith, AC/DC, The Gun Club, Charles Bukowski, Ivor Cutler, Dennis Potter and Whitley Streiber's alien abduction bible Communion, they are a band committed to steering for the outer limits.
The first rumblings came in 1992. Ian, whose former dalliances include stints in Atom Bomb Babies, Bright Young Things and Ultra Vivid Scene, was housebound following an eye operation. His only solace was the visits of ex-graduate Julie Rumsey, a guitarist, flautist and singer
