This is the first issue from May 1964.

The UK rear sleeve has no track times & also shows only Four Outlined Epitaphs. The rear sleeve shows poems 1 2 7 and 8 and there is no insert as with the US release.

The label is of the rough CBS variety with centre boxed logo 33 instead of 33 1/3 near the bottom left corner of the logo & Blossom Music Ltd Credit to the centre right.

The stamped Matrices in the run off are 62251 A2 & B2.

Condition :-

The sleeve is in beautiful condition with just a bit of age yellowing on the non-laminated back at the edges as a result of handling over time.
The sleeve is front laminated with 45° edged flipbacks confirming a first issue.
The spine is still clearly readable & the front also shows no evidence of fading or significant age yellowing. There is just a little evidence of general shelfwear & no edge scuffing at all to speak of apart from the lightest of corner scuffing.

This copy has obviously been stored very well indeed & would be graded EX-.

The vinyl itself matches the sleeve. It is beautiful with just a few light spindle marks around the label centre to indicate play.
Upon close inspection there are several hairline marks to be seen but none that affect play. Thanks to the solid [and correct] pressing techniques of the time these small blemishes are predominately cosmetic in nature & give the piece the correct feel without detracting from the amazing sonics of a 1964 Mono press. Upon playtesting the LP plays through without fault but there is a certain amount of surface noise evident at times along with the odd light click however the disc plays through cleanly and free of distortion.

The vinyl would be graded VG-/VG. Not mint but still a very respectable acquisition for any collection.

A very acceptable copy of this forty five year old first pressing at an advantageous price!
