This is Blue Note Records BLP 4146, Dexter Gordon Our Man In Paris, a blue and white, New York USA, microgroove label, original mono promo copy of this great record with Van Gelder and the ear (p) mark stamped in the dead wax. The record is in VG+(+), (a strong VG+) condition showing some light marks; but it is one broad mark on side 1 (which does not effect the play), that lowers the grade one notch. The record plays quietly throughout. The original laminated cover, with the 43 West 61st St., New York 23 address and Made In USA, has a "preview copy" stamp on the back and shows light shelf wear and a small tear on the notes, but is otherwise excellent and intact. The labels are excellent and show only light spindle marks. An original thumbnail inner sleeve is included as well. This copy was owned by a famous jazz writer and is part of a small group of original issues I have been listing. The record was cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondek LP12. This is an excellent collector's grade copy of this wonderful original Blue Note mono issue with all the proper marking in place*. Please check our other listings as we discount shipping for multiple orders. Thanks for looking.
* There are copies circulating with deep groove labels. I agree with Alan Songer and Fred Cohen who state that anything after BLP 4060 without a deep groove, but with all the other markings is an original issue. I also believe that the "preview copy" stamp is an absolute indicator of an original issue.
