A BREAKDOWN OF THE ARTIST/S :-
Born Robert Ridarelli, 26 April 1942, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Probably the most musically talented of the late 50s Philadelphia school of clean-cut teen-idols, Rydell first performed in public as a drummer at the age of seven. At nine he debuted on Paul Whiteman's Teen Club amateur television show and was the show's regular drummer for three years. He attended the same boys club as Fabian and Frankie Avalon, formed a duo with Avalon in 1954 and shortly afterwards, they both joined local group Rocco And The Saints. After several rejections from labels, he recorded his first solo single "Fatty Fatty" for his manager's Veko label. In 1958 he joined Cameo-Parkway Records and his fourth release for that label, "Kissin' Time" (which owed something to "Sweet Little Sixteen"), became the first of his 18 US Top 40 hits over the next four years. The photogenic pop/rock singer's best-known transatlantic hits are "Wild One", "Sway" and "Volare" (only two years after the song first topped the charts) all in 1960 and "Forget Him", a song written and produced in Britain by Tony Hatch in 1963. Rydell, whose ambition was always to be an all-round entertainer, starred in the movie Bye Bye Birdie and quickly, and initially successfully, moved into the cabaret circuit. The arrival of the British groups in 1964 was the final nail in his chart coffin. He later recorded without success for Capitol Records, Reprise Records, RCA Records, Perception and Pickwick International. Rydell has continued to work the club and oldies circuit and had some recognition for his role in rock when the high school in the hit 70s musical Grease was named after him. He returned to the studio in 1995 to re-record all his greatest hits as The Best Of Bobby Rydell.

THE COVER :- Single laminated sleeve
THE LABEL :- Summit labels
THE VINYL VISUALLY :- On initial inspection of this piece of vinyl I cannot see any areas of immediate concern. The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable so there are no nasty warps to worry about. The vinyl still retains its just pressed quality, full of deep shine and lustre. I have not noted anything that would affect play. A lovely piece of vinyl. Near Mint visually.
THE VINYL PLAY GRADED :- The playgrading of the vinyl reveals no lessening in the sound quality. It lives up to its visual grading. There is barely any surface noise. What very little there is can be only heard on the run in and run out of tracks and extra quiet areas of the album. The sound quality is high with a full dynamic range and very detailed sound. I feel certain this album has been played carefully and stored well over the years. I would grade the audio playback as Near Mint condition.
THE SLEEVE FRONT CONDITION :- This is the very earliest 1st press laminated Frank Manley sleeve. The front of the sleeve is free from writing, free from stickers or evidence of previously removed stickers. The sleeve reveals some ringwear and a couple of creases in the top and bottom left corners. There is some laminate lifting on the bottom seam. The colours are bright and crisp. I would grade the front of the cover as Excellent condition considering the age and very fragile nature of the sleeve, these were very flimsy sleeves and it is very rare to find one even in this kind of condition.
THE SLEEVE REAR CONDITION :- The rear of the sleeve is free from writing. It has 2 very small price stickers which show the pricing in shillings and pence. The flipbacks are nice and sharp with no laminate lifting. The none laminated areas have suffered from some ringwear and some heavy browning around that area. There are no rips or tears though which is good. Light creasing in the top right and bottom right corners. All the text is clear and legible. Very Good condition.
THE LABEL SIDE ONE CONDITION :- Original 1st Press Summit label in excellent order free from stickers or writing and no damage at all, no signs of play around the spindle hole. Near Mint condition.
THE LABEL SIDE TWO CONDITION :- Original 1st Press Summit label in excellent order free from stickers or writing and no damage at all, no signs of play around the spindle hole. Near Mint condition.
THE SPINE CONDITION :- These covers were so thin the album titles were printed on the rear by the seam. The spine itself is in great condition with no rubbing or damage. Excellent condition.
THE INNER SLEEVE CONDITION :- Generic white inner in Excellent condition with just some light browning.
THE EXTRAS :- No extras were given with this album
