For sale is this Very Rare Reissue Promotional copy of the Beatles “Penny Lane b/w Strawberry Fields Forever” 45 on Capitol Records # P 5810. This disc has the lime-green label and blue colored vinyl making this copy Very Rare!! It also has the trumpet flourish at the end of the “Penny Lane” side, not found on the commercial issues. Very few Beatles promo discs were made by Capitol in the 1960s.

 

“The original US promo single mix of "Penny Lane" had an additional flourish of piccolo trumpet notes at the end of the song. This mix was quickly superseded by one without the last trumpet passage, but not before a handful of copies had been pressed and sent to radio stations. These recordings are among the rarest and most valuable Beatles collectibles.”

 

This record is housed in a Capitol Records paper sleeve.

The record and sleeve, both grade VERY GOOD ++.
