Joe Satriani is a self-titled EP by guitarist , released in 1984 through Rubina Records.

 

Originally in a limited run of 500 on only.

 

The majority of the EP was later reissued on the first disc of Satriani's 1993 studio album, , with the exception of "Talk to Me", which was not included due its master tape having been damaged. The EP was reissued on 12" Vinyl on the Legacy label for Record Store Day 2014 as a RSD Exclusive Release. (This in not that release – it is a very rare original!)

It is notable for only using sounds made by an , from tapping on the pickups for , to detuning the guitar for . Recorded while Satriani was a guitar teacher in , the EP was successful in securing him a recording contract with , through whom he released his first studio album, , in 1986.

Recreation of self titled 1984 5 song EP. This EP is legendary in that this release helped secure Joe’s signing to Relativity Records and also every noise on the 5 recordings was made on an electric guitar (tapping on the tuneups for drums, detuning the guitar for bass).Individually numbered and remastered from the original source on180 gram vinyl.

In 1984 he struck out on his own, recording and producing a self-titled EP that showcased his experimental side. “For the few people who heard the EP,” wrote Guitar Player, “the much-needed clarification ‘every sound on this record was made on an electric guitar’ was hard to believe, especially after hearing the sound effects of ‘Talk To Me’ and the popping bass in ‘Dreaming Number Eleven.’”
