This live broadcast from February 6, 1972 on the mighty Bay Area station KSAN is a landmark piece of Dead and Jerry Garcia history, as it was the very first time Jerry Garcia was heard on the radio outside of The Grateful Dead. He and Merl Saunders had been gigging together as The Jerry Garcia Band for some time at that point but no record would be released until two years later, and they had only been playing in small bars and clubs so a huge percentage of The Dead's fanbase had never heard Jerry Garcia's solo material before this fateful night.
