This is a very rare, highly sought after 1st pressing of Bob Dylan's classic album Highway 61 Revisited! This is the Stereo Columbia CS 9189 "2 Eye" "NONBREAKABLE" labeled version that contains the alternate take of "From a Buick 6" with the harmonica intro which was changed on all following pressings!
The cover is in INCREDIBLE condition still in the original shrink wrap! It's a very rare cover containing the "meaningful" misprint which was only found on the first pressing! It was quickly changed to "meaningless" on all following pressings. The bottom left corner has a slight bump but otherwise the corners are sharp and the spine is perfect. There are a few horizontal lines on the cover under the shrink wrap that appear to me to be from the factory. Apart from that there are no marks, writing, ink or stains. No seam splits, bends or creases. I'd grade the cover as EX+ to NM. Please see pics- without doubt one of the best surviving covers you will ever find!
The vinyl is rougher though it sounds great! Many hairlines and sleeve removal lines and a couple of large scratches that only cause minimal popping - they look worse than they sound for sure! However, there IS a nasty little scratch on Desolation Row that causes several jumps but DOES play through on my turntable. I can't guarantee that it will on every system of course but it mainly just jumps several times throughout the song but does continue playing. Apart from that it plays through wonderfully with great sound and only the occasional crackle or pop. A good cleaning would no doubt do wonders to help that. The rare take of "From a Buick 6" sounds great with the harmonica intro which of course was later changed to an entirely different mix. I'd grade the vinyl visually as VG- and audibly as VG. If it weren't for the scratch on Desolation Row it'd easily be VG+. This would be the ultimate upgrade sleeve for someone with a better copy of the disc!! It stills plays great save for the problems I mentioned but the sleeve far exceeds the disc...
The labels are EX with minimal spindle wear and no writing. They are the "2 Eye" "NONBREAKABLE" labels that are also only found on first pressings.
The matrix runout is- Side 1: XSM110640-1B Side 2: XSM110641-1B
Overall, a decent playing copy (with the exception of Desolation Row) of an extremely rare record in one of the nicest misprint sleeves you'll ever find! I have listed very accurately the condition and posted pictures of any flaws that I could find so you should know exactly what you're getting but if you are unhappy with the record I will accept returns if there was something I somehow missed.
