This 12" diecut  gatefold picture disc vinyl features an exclusive Eddie image. Side 1 features the Epic 18 minute track “Empire Of The Clouds” and side 2 features “Maiden Voyage” an exclusive 21 minute interview with Bruce Dickinson and Nicko McBrain. The vinyl is limited edition and numbered and only available for Record Store Day.

Taken from their latest studio album "The Book Of Souls", the single is housed in a uniquely artworked sleeve, featuring a replica of the actual newspaper story reporting on the fate of the R101 airship, which is the focus of the song.

Supporting RSD for the very first time with an Iron Maiden piece director of strategic marketing (Parlophone) Paul Fletcher explains how the band came to be involved. “After the success of The Book Of Souls last year and especially with the reaction to the triple vinyl format I felt that a song like ‘Empire Of The Clouds’ needed to be immortalized in some way. It was never going to be a radio track/ single so after discussions with management we went down the let’s educate & commemorate a real tragedy that Bruce had chosen to portray in this amazing song. As usual with Maiden they turned the package into something special with unique commissioned artwork and the idea to licence historic material from the Daily Mirror archives from 1930. The result is an incredible package that both vinyl collectors & Maiden fans will be keen to own.”

I grade the records visually but strictly. Gradings are according to UK Record Collector's magazine grading system. The standard condition categories and a description of what each ones means are listed below. Please take a look.

MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or detorioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Thanks for looking! Please see my other auctions too!
