PLEASE READ AUCTION LISTING NARRATIVE CAREFULLY!!!

Up for bid is a Pre-Sale for Vault Package #27 from Third Man Records. This is not a bootleg. Its an authorised and official release from Third Man Records. Ships with delivery confirmation. If you do not read details below you have no one to blame but yourself. Due to ship March/April 2016 if no delays (which I doubt).

As  in Detroit continues to exceed expectations, the neighborhood and its history continues to occupy our creative mind. While  showcased a wildly beautiful White Stripes performance from the  in 1999, there’s still so much to tell about that time, the bands kicking around and the spirit imbued into all of it.

Our 27th  package seeks to address that concern. Showcasing full live show recordings from three important bands of that era, each act inhabits a different world stylistically and contributes to a more-detailed overall picture.

First off is . While the band only released two songs (both covers) while they were together, the group was a jumping-off point for the critically-regarded band , which Dan John Miller and Tracee Mae Miller would later go on to found. With the addition of Damian Lang (Detroit Cobras) on drums and Two Star Tabernacle was quite the confluence of varied influences. Two Star is also where Jack White debuted some songs that would later become known the world over through the White Stripes. This particular set by Two Star Tabernacle, recorded at the Gold Dollar on January 16th, 1998, features spirited takes of “So Long Cruel World” and “Garbage Picker” which would find more-refined lives on Blanche’s  album. White’s “Hotel Yorba” and “Now Mary” renditions are twangier older siblings to how they exist on “White Blood Cells.” Of supreme interest to audio archeologists is the White-penned song “Itchy” all spirit and rockabilly rhythm that has yet to find a place in any of his subsequent musical endeavors. A splendid cover of Merle Travis’ “Sixteen Tons” help round out the set of a band, while mentioned often, is infrequently heard. The equal parts country and punk are in full effect here. Take heed.

Recorded at the Gold Dollar on November 25th, 1998, the ferocious set by  highlights the momentary period before the band had signed to and was still honing material for its  album. Opening with a blistering take on their anthemic “Meet Me at the Movies” and closing with powerful version of the Sonics’ classic “Psycho”, the smell of sweat and Stroh’s permeates this recording. Aside from a radio session and an underwater audience recording, this is the only live document of how intense this line-up of the Go was. With band mainstays Bobby Harlow, John Krautner and Marc Fellishelming their usual positions, Dave Buick (Italy Records, Third Man Cass Corridor) is on bass and Jack White is on lead guitar. Included here is a live take on White’s “Turn Your Little Light Bulb On” a song penned for the Go that has remained relatively unheard in the intervening eighteen years. The Go are essential in understanding Detroit rock history and this, their first live release, cements their place in the pantheon.

Opening for Royal Trux on September 16th, 1999, Jack White and the Bricks were actually never called that name during their brief existence across a half-dozen (or so) shows. We’ve reproduced the flyer proclaiming “Jack White Band” to prove it. While  showcased a live recording of the Bricks that left a lot to be desired in regards to fidelity, the multitrack masters from the Gold Dollar were available to create a truly stellar mix here. FromBrendan Benson’s harmonic accents (on both vocals and guitar) to Kevin Peyok’s even-keeled bass runs, through Ben Blackwell’s competent drum work…the performance here is sublime. If you’ve ever daydreamed about hearing Jack tackle White Stripes songs with the attack of two guitars behind them…this show will delight. Divergent interpretations of Stripes’ catalog staples “Candy Cane Children” and “You’ve Got Her in Your Pocket” do not disappoint. The otherwise unreleased Jack White song “One and Two” is particularly fascinating. Rounded out with a cover of Little Richard’s “Ooh! My Soul” (which may be an inspiration for “Fell in Love With a Girl”) and what exists here is the definitive document of this outfit.

Each LP comes in it’s own custom stylized jacket and will be housed in a soft touch telescoping box highlighting the Gold Dollar building. Keep ‘em in the box or file ‘em away in your individual band sections in your record collection…whatever you want! Vinyl pressed on our non-metallic approximation of gold vinyl.

The box will be filled up with all sorts of facsimile reproductions of setlists, flyers, band ephemera and material the likes of which fans have come accustomed to expecting in the unrivaled Vault packages.

For our 7” offering in this package…we continue along the path of  with the electrifying “Let Me Through” backed with the frightening “Be Still.” Housed in a tasty glue-pocket sleeve and pressed on the hazy mix of yellow and black vinyl, this further solidifies the idea that the Dead Weather are as equally as deadly on single as they are on LP. If you’ve got the first four of these, you can’t tap out now. Collect the whole series.

The bonus item in Vault #27 is a custom Third Man Records Challenge Coin. Usually used as totems to signify membership in a military organization, are slowly making their way into other realms of culture. The Third Man Records 2016 Challenge Coin will entitle its bearer to 10% off any purchases in our Detroit or Nashville store fronts

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING RULES OF THE AUCTION. THEY ARE NOTED DUE TO RECENT PROBLEMS WITH BUYERS. I KNOW IT IS A LOT, BUT HOPEFULLY IT WILL ALLEVIATE ANY PROBLEMS LATER. IF YOU REFUSE TO READ OR FOLLOW THE AUCTION RULES, YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELF:
The seller sets the rules for the auction, not the buyer. All of these rules that follow are well within the Ebay guidelines.

1) Payment is due within 4 days of auction end. If payment not made, an unpaid item case will be filed with Ebay.
2) Feedback given once buyer gives feedback first. If intent on leaving negative feedback or not happy with item, email me first.
3) With records becoming more popular in the last few years and pressing plants working many hours to meet demand, it is literally impossible to check the condition of every single record thoroughly. Not all records will come out entirely flat; there may be a slight rise and fall to them. Keep in mind,  THEY ARE NOT "WARPED"! A warped record means it may sound a little distorted or be unplayable. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS GIVEN UNLESS THE RECORD SOLD FALLS INTO THIS LAST STATEMENT. So if you need that absolutely pristine record that is perfectly flat, this may not be the auction for you.
4) Before you bid on an item, consider shipping costs, handling time, and other shipping services. Review the item description carefully. If you have any questions about shipping or anything else, contact the seller beforehand, NOT AFTER THE SALE!
5) International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. (Overseas buyers are responsible for any final fees due to importation, not the seller! I will also not alter shipping label in any way to lessen costs. This is shipping fraud. Anyone asking me to do so will be reported by me to eBay immediately).
6) International Buyers: If you can not interpret the rules of this auction due to a language barrier, you may want to have someone who understands English explain it to you. It's not my problem/responsibility if you don't understand. By bidding you are expressing to me you understand and are taking responsibility for your actions.
7) You must pay for any item you commit to buying. Each bid you make is a binding contract to buy the item you win. The same is true for Buy It Now purchases. Not paying for an item after you agree to buy it has negative consequences, explained in Ebay's Unpaid Item Policy.

8) Shipping options (ex: First Class, Media, Priority) specified in the listing will be the only one(s) offered, no substitutions. Demanding a change to the shipping method or delivery location, other than those specified in the listing is a violation of Ebay policy. (Any buyer asking me to change to a shipping method not listed in the auction will be reported to eBay by me immediately-this goes especially for non U.S. buyers! Exception to the rule is if buyer requests a faster method of shipping and to pays the extra cost).
9) You may ask whether the seller will combine shipping for multiple purchases (invoice will be sent to buyer for updated shipping costs within reason).                                                                                                                                                              10) You may ask the seller if it's acceptable if your payment is briefly delayed due to exceptional circumstances.
11) Delivery confirmation should be supplied through ebay once it's shipped. Buyer is responsible for tracking package. If package listed as delivered and buyer never received it, contact your local Post Office. Also, seller is not responsible if item is delivered and buyer did not make arrangements to secure item (ex: away on business, vacation, etc.).
12) Sealed records may be shipped outside jacket to avoid seam splits upon request after buyer makes purchase. Seller not responsible for any audio defects on sealed/unplayed items.
13) Records/sleeves graded "Near Mint" means there are minor imperfections (ex: minor corner dings, creases, splits, etc.), i.e. not a perfect copy.
14) LP records are shipped in standard LP mailers and packed securely. 7" records may be shipped in mailers or envelopes and are secured. If for some reason you want extra secure packing (ie double boxing), it will cost extra. Wait for updated invoice before paying (If you receive record and the are dings or creases on jacket or ripped sleeves, double boxing might be a good idea. I won't be held responsible for damage and there be no compensation. Blame the U.S. Post Office).
15) If you receive a sealed item and for some reason it's not the same color as described in the listing, let me know and I will try to replace it or give you a refund. However, if you ask for a refund/return and once I receive the item it's actually the color described in the listing, there will be NO REFUND in return shipping eitherway. Not my problem if you might be incompetent or colorblind.
16) Finally, if a winning bidder:  Does not want it after it is paid for and demands their money refunded, Mistakenly bid on or claims someone else did and does not want item (exception: bid retraction before auction end. If you can't figure out how to remedy situation, refer to eBay policies),  Is not able to redeem a gift card or coupon, Claims they somehow received same item from an outside source, or Purchased item in hand/pre-sale item and found it cheaper or from another source before it shipped to them from Ebay seller (if item is delayed beyond stated time of arrival, I have no problem offering a refund), be advised, YOU WILL NOT BE EXCUSED OR REFUNDED.  ALL SALES ARE FINAL IN THESE SITUATIONS!                                                          I DO MY UTMOST TO BE A FAIR AND RESPONSIBLE SELLER; ITS ONLY FAIR FOR YOU TO BE A RESPONSIBLE BUYER
