"IDENTITY FACTORY" LP

SUPER LIMITED EDITION PRIVATE PRESSING - ONLY 500 MADE

Label: Drak Records Ltd.

On June 18th, 1979, Public Image Ltd. traveled north to Manchester to perform two songs for broadcast on Granada Television. That afternoon John Lydon contacted Tony Wilson (then working as a broadcaster for Granada TV, later the founder of Factory Records) and expressed interest in playing a spontaneous gig later that evening. Immediate arraignments are made and news is spread by word of mouth and the band is on stage later that night at the Russell Club (soon to be renamed “The Factory”). The results were captivating music.

This was a truly historic and significant performance because it was drummer Richard Dudanski’s live debut (he had been in the band for a few weeks) and the first time the group ever played material from their soon-to-be-released classic “Metal Box” album in front of an audience. You can literally hear the new material coming together as the band performs these tracks live for the first time. This is a must for any PIL fan.

This album is sourced from the original soundboard cassette master and sounds excellent! It comes in a high-quality UV-finished jacket and sports fantastic artwork. TRACKS: Chant/ Death Disco/ Memories/ Public Image/ Annalisa/ No Birds Do Sing
