The Residents – The Beatles Play The Residents And The Residents Play The Beatles 45 RARE LIMITED EDITION!
Ralph Records – RR0577
Vinyl, 7", Single, Limited Edition 1 of 500, Hand Numbered, original owner
Released: Aug 1977
The condition of the cover is M-.
As for the vinyl, I'm going to go with VG+. You see it looks perfect, but it is noisier than I would have expected since it has only been played a few times. Now, this could be because it was a private release and possibly it sounded that way new. I can't remember for sure as it was 40 years ago! It might be because the cover is rather rough and there is no inner sleeve. It might even be that since I've been almost all digital for many years I'm not used to what a vinyl 45 might sound like! It's not bad, but I wouldn't feel right rating it any higher for these reasons.
I purchased this 45 from Ralph Records when it was originally released. When it arrived there was a postcard with it that asked you to register. I filled it out and mailed it back. Before I sent it, though, I made a copy to keep. You can see that in the last photo. I only blacked out my information on the .jpg, not the paper which will be included with the 45 for provenance.
This is from my smoke-free always air-conditioned house.
Description found online:
"Numbered edition of 500 copies in hand-screened three-color foldout cover sleeve. Including numbered registration card. Has the official seal "Official Limited Edition - Ralph Records" on back sleeve with hand-number in the center.
The A-side, "Beyond The Valley Of A Day In The Life" (artists credited on the label are The Beatles, of course, this is a parody played by The Residents), is an audio collage of recordings by The Beatles and John Lennon, with a looped clip from The Beatles’ Third Christmas Record, in which Paul McCartney says "Please everybody, if we haven't done what we could have done we've tried."
The B-side, “Flying”, is a cover of the Beatles song, selected because it is one of the few songs to be credited to all four Beatles. At one point, one of the Residents quotes the clip from the McCartney interview used on the A-side and laughs maniacally."
