Here's a nice clean copy of this all-time great Country classic. Recorded in Johnson City, TN on October 23, 1929.
Down On Penny's Farm is what must be one of the highlights in all pre-war Country recordings.
When it featured on Harry Smith's 1952 'Anthology of American Folk Music it was heard by and influenced many young musicians. Bob Dylan for instance adapted it twice, in the tune New York Town of 1962 and theme for Maggie's Farm in 1965.
