The prolific Bruno Nicolai wrote the score to Gianfranco Parolini's 1971 film Indio Black, Sai Che Ti Dico: Se un Gran Figilio Di... as part of the Sabata Trilogy with Yul Brynner as the "hero." (This one is loosely translated as "Sabata Means to Kill"). He wrote the score to every volume of these very spotty spaghetti Westerns. The music, however, is anything but spotty. Nicolai understood his melodrama and suspense as well as his other Italian counterparts like Ennio Morricone, Piero Piccioni, and Piero Umiliani (the latter had more of a sense of absurdist humor than any and scored only one of these types of films). Nicolai had a way with tight cues that was more fluid yet precise than the films they accompanied could have dreamed of. His scores flow from top to bottom with either a sweeping orchestra, an a cappella choir singing in Spanish, a few taut strings, or some skeletal percussion to make a moment of tension almost unbearable while gearing up for the big transcendent moment that comes just before the film's end. This deluxe remastered version also comes with a pair of bonus cuts that further accent Nicolai's genius: the 45-rpm single edits of the main theme.
