*** 1928 Harmonica masterpiece ***

Original 1928 US issue of these phenomenal Harmonica solos. Recorded February 21, 1928 in Atlanta, GA.
The only record ever issued by McAbee. It does not get much much better than this for harmonica solo pieces. His train imitation (a standard showpiece for harp players back then) is without a doubt one of the best ever put on record.
Bio form wikepedia:
Palmer Braden McAbee (April 28, 1894, Cherokee County, Alabama - September 5, 1970, Centre, Alabama) was an American  Blues harmonica player. Little is known of his life.

On February 21, 1928, he recorded two tracks in Atlanta, Georgia: "Lost Boy Blues" and "McAbee's Railroad Piece".                                                                           They were released on a 10" 78rpm record, Victor 41930.

It has often been assumed from the style of his music that he was African-American. However, on his 1917 draft registration card,                                                       he is described as "Caucasian". At that time, he was employed as a carpenter, and resided in Cedartown, Georgia.

He is buried in Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Howells Crossroads, Cherokee County.

Many harmonica players have tried to imitate railway noises. McAbee has been singled out for his "imagination and fervor ...                                                              creating effects both realistic and surrealistic sometimes by blowing over the top of the harp"

Do note that these 78s are all recorded with a modern Stanton USB turntable. The Stanton is a expensive motha but really sounds like crap! All these sound so much better on our old early 60s Lenco player. The Stanton makes all the ticks and crackle and rumble sound worse and more metalic. But you'll get an idea.

We know how to grade and pack your records!
