PARLOGRAM AUCTIONS presents...
THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'/'ASK ME WHY'
This extremely early UK 1st pressing of their 2nd single dates from initial January 1963 release.
This disc is identifiable as one of the very earliest pressings from its 'JR' stamper code*, usually only used on demo copies.
It is on the red & silver Parlophone label (45-R 4983) which includes the 'Made In Gt. Britain' text on both sides.
A 'ZOM' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the 'Please, Please Me' label.
'MPT' codes are stamped in both run-outs.
Matrices: 7XCE 17217-1N & 7XCE 17218-1N
*Stamper codes: 3/GO & -/JR
The disc is housed within the earliest variation of the then new green & white Parlophone company sleeve. This had the incorrect 'Controlled by Electrical & Musical Instruments' text on the rear, which was quickly changed to 'Controlled by Electrical & Musical Industries Ltd'
