Original and rare 1951 US first press 78 rpm.
Top notch slide-guitar Country Blues by the great John Lee.  This is not John Lee Hooker but rather Alabama guitar ace John "Arthur" Lee  (b. May 24, 1915 in Mount Willing, AL - d. October 1977 in Montgomery, AL)
John Lee only released two 78s in 1951 untill he was re-discovery and got to record again in the 70s. This is one of those two rare original 78s.

deadwax:  F-170-1   /   F-174-1 condition:  (grading is from 1 to 10 with 10 being new) visually: 7 out of 10  (nice copy - just a few light scratches/scuffs - but a haze over the shellac giving it a duller  look takes the grade down a bit)  plays: 7/6 out of 10 (strong player - hardly any pops or ticks but background hiss "a little more so on Baby side" keeps it at E- / V+) note: the picture / promo-card of John Lee is NOT included Looks E-   plays E- / V+

NOTE: all recordings were made with a digital USB connection Stanton player, and recorded in lo-fi audio  quality. Especially with the 78 rpm recordings the sound will be worse than when played on a proper set-up.
The crackle or hiss sound worse then when we play these on our old Lenco L70.
