The motion picture, written and created by George Lucas / composed and conducted by John Williams, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark was the only score in the Indy series performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, the same orchestra that performed the scores for George Lucas' Star Wars saga. The soundtrack is most notable for its inclusion of the iconic and now ubiquitous 'Raiders March,' which came to symbolize Indiana Jones and was later used in the scores for all subsequent films in the series. The film was nominated for 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score.
