A-side plays with a lovely warm sound, plenty of drive. Some surface crackles most notable around the run-in which do not overpower, progressively lessening. B-side plays a pinch stronger in a similar fashion, nice quality audio with a clear reverb on the vocals. Visual Grade: G+ (nearing VG-). Rest assured, I grade conservatively with high standards in place. I operate with total transparency and give as much information as possible, with each and every record being cleaned on a record cleaning machine, fully playtested and carefully inspected under a powerful lamp. Gradings are given on a visual basis with the playback commented on in the descriptions of each item.

Grading overview

Accurate and honest grading is one of if not the most important responsibility of any record dealer and is much more of an art than running through a list of check-boxes. As such, I offer the below descriptions as a rough overview of the standards in place for each grade.

Any issues present from pressing such as cloudiness, pimples or pits as often seen in Jamaican reggae pressings will be clearly identified. The same is to be said for feelable marks; regardless of how small or smooth/light a mark may be, should it be feelable upon careful inspection with a fingertip it will be identified in the description, even if there is no audible effect as a result. These will typically result in a lesser visual grade being given, with feelable marks being a heavily weighted factor in grading.

Near Mint is a grade which I do not use without total confidence that you will agree.

EX; Some 90% or so of the items which I will grade as EX will be items which I have purchased from others who have graded as Near Mint. An EX graded record should not display any deterioration in sheen, revealing only very minor brushings from dust or sleeve removal in a low number when closely inspected under a powerful lamp. Without close inspection an EX graded record should appear as though it was pressed this week.

Strong VG+; As per the above, what I consider as a ?Strong VG+? retains a very high standard of cleanliness and should look to have seen minimal play. Records graded ?Strong VG+? may display a very sparing number of faint marks. In many cases a ?Strong VG+? record may appear close to unplayed with a faint inaudible mark or two.

VG+; May have seen occasional use with adequate care. Surfaces should still retain a high standard of cleanliness with an allowance for some light, unfeelable marks. A VG+ graded record should not leave you longing for a cleaner copy (unless of course you are a very serious collector looking for unplayed/archive copies)

VG; The typical VG graded record should be fit for home listening and DJing alike. Surfaces may display a higher frequency of general whispy paper sleeve brushings and some light marks, but should still retain a healthy amount of sheen. By my standards a VG graded record is far from ?battered? or ?trashed?, there simply has to be a cut off for what is accepted as a VG+. As such, I would rather grade a record on the lower end of VG+ as a ?Strong VG? in order to keep these standards in place.

VG-; The typical VG- graded record will fit the above description, but may display a lower standard of cleanliness with some light marks throughout, a lessened sheen (though still holding a sheen or reflective appearance) or perhaps a few feelable marks. As always, playback will be commented on and reasoning for the grade will be given. Though there may be some surface-noise, crackles or such, the average VG- graded record will still be played and enjoyed by myself on a sensitive hifi as-is but will likely benefit from a DJ cartridge and some EQ.

G+; Records graded G+ may have seen frequent use over the years with adequate care, hold a lesser sheen with some light unfeelable marks throughout or may fit the above grades with some larger feelable marks or scuffs. Depending on the pressing and the specific instances of wear present, a G+ record may very well sound fantastic as-is or may require some EQing and a DJ cartridge to reach an enjoyable standard of playback.

Packaging

I have never purchased an LP which has been packaged better the standard of packaging I use for every LP I send.
LPs are shipped well-protected and neatly presented with poly-lined innersleeves and new poly outersleeves.

Likewise, I have never purchased a 7? single as cleanly and well-presented than the standard set for every 7? single I send.
Singles are cleaned, placed in a clean innersleeve inside of a brand new white cardboard masterbag, which is then placed inside of a brand new, high quality PVC outersleeve.

At my own expense I have taken the steps to ensure that my packaging is friendly to the environment, with 100% of the packaging used being recyclable card (and yes, that does in fact include the tape).

The price you pay for shipping is never more than what it costs me, in fact I often pay the Post Office more than you will be charged. I also cover the costs of packaging myself.

For international orders and LPs in particular I offer a discounted postage rate to try to help out with the costs of international shipping.

Please note that in the rare circumstance that an international parcel does not arrive, Royal Mail require "20 working days after the due date for items in Europe, after 25 working days for rest of world" before they will consider an item as lost, should they not be able to confirm delivery. Until this period has passed I am unable to attain any further information other than that provided by the tracking number, should the parcel have been sent via Tracked & Signed. If this period should pass then I am always sure to keep all of the paperwork to file a claim right away for the value of the parcel should it be confirmed as missing.

Grades are given on a visual basis, if two grades are given in the format Grade 1/Grade 2, these correspond to the A-side/B-side respectively.

Near Mint (NM)

Surfaces appear unplayed. Used with hesitation, even for many brand new records.

Excellent (EX)

In typical indoor lighting an EX graded record will appear to be near mint until very closely inspected.
If there’s a mark you can easily point out in typical indoor lighting, it’s not EX.

Strong Very Good Plus (Strong VG+)

As per the qualities of EX and NM, a record which has seen only light play at most. Allowance for a low number of light marks. The typical Strong VG+ is some 2 or 3 light/inaudible lines from EX to NM.

Very Good Plus (VG+)

Allowance for some light marks but still retaining a generous sheen and respectable overall cleanliness.
Well cared for with occasional light use. Shouldn’t leave you longing for a cleaner copy.

Strong Very Good (Strong VG)

In order to maintain a respectable standard set for the VG+ grading, records on the lower end of VG+ are graded as Strong VG.

Very Good (VG)

Surfaces still hold a healthy sheen with a lesser cleanliness than a VG+ graded record. Played but full of play yet.

Very Good Minus (VG-)

May display a lessened but still present sheen, light marks in a higher frequency or may fit the descriptions of the above grades with the presence of feelable marks (within reason).
The majority of VG- graded records will be enjoyed by myself on a sensitive Hi-Fi and will often be fit to DJ.

Good Plus (G+)

As per the above description with a higher tolerance for marks, lessened sheen but typically still reflective in appearance. Quite often plays above expectations and depending on the pressing may very well be fit to DJ.
G+ is a well-established grade which is still to be respected for playable copies of desirable records.

Good (G)

Lessened sheen, light marks throughout or the presence of larger pronounced feelable marks.

Fair (F)

Heavily used. Marked throughout or with a number of larger feelable marks, will usually play without skipping.

Poor (P)

Cracked or warped beyond repair, skips, sticks, hitches.
