Update 05/09/20
This is that third and last of my mono copies of Bare Wires by John Mayall.
I’ve just played it from start to finish and am reducing the price, updating the images and reporting on my findings.
First of all, the sleeve is solid and in fine condition. No writing, no water damage, nor rips or tears.
Secondly, the sound is strong and plays without skips, jumps, sticks or heavy scratches. On the other hand it does have a significant amount of crackle especially remarkable at the start where there is also a couple of ticks. Once it gets going, the music is excellent, involving and engaging. Massive mono sound. But the crackle or rather background noise is noticeable between tracks.
Note that I listen on a very revealing system, without the mono button engaged and at realistic volume. Therefore, I would notice this underlying noise more readily. In fact it plays extremely well and I suppose a certain amount of crackle is to be expected from a record of this vintage - which was probably taken to many 60s parties.
I’m selling this along with its two fellows to recoup some funds against the near-mint copy I have acquired at considerable cost.
To sum up, this is a fine listen which will overcome the inevitable background noise which only becomes noticeable at very high volumes.
A decent copy for a reasonable outlay.
Photos of the actual item are now uploaded. Photos of record surfaces in light tend to look wonderful and flawless. These surfaces have lots and lots of hairlines which contribute to the background noise which is typical of LPs of the era. Again I repeat that, since there are no serious scratches it remains a very satisfying listen.
Any questions etc ....
