ORCHESTRA NATIONAL DE MAURITANIE LP (Sahel Sounds, Mississippi Records 2013/USA ORIGINAL!!)

Out of print and increasingly rare LP of 1960s-70s era recordings by this first modern band in Mauritania, formed 1968 after the independence of that country. Strong RAIL BAND, SUPER DJATA, etc. vibes with this one, together with some more frenetic takes on the national folklore complete with wah-wah guitars! Just check out their take on the traditional song “Kamlat” in the clip! It’s really great stuff. In addition to the great music, this LP also comes with a booklet featuring photos and a history of the band (check pics 3 and 4). A very cool package all around!

Condition: Record is VG+ to VG. I strongly suspect that it will clean up to solidly VG+, as it looked pretty dusty when I was spinning it to make the soundclip above. I bought it brand new and it has mostly been in storage for the past 7 years, so no doubt it  could use a good cleaning. The sleeve is VG+ with no real problems; just the original price sticker from some genius record store employee who decided to place it directly on the sleeve! (D‘oh!) I’ll leave that to the buyer to remove.

Terms (Please read carefully): Payment is due within THREE (3) DAYS via Paypal – no exceptions. **NOTE TO NON-USA BIDDERS: I will only ship outside of the USA using E-bay’s Global Shipping Program, as this protects buyer and seller from loss, damage, etc. This program entails extra fees for international tracking, customs, etc., which results in a high shipping cost. These fees are not set by me (as the seller, I don’t even get to see them), I don’t make any money off of them, and they are NOT NEGOTIABLE.
