This is the original deep-groove* (Side 2) Van Gelder-stamped “P”-pressing of Herbie Hancock “Takin’ Off” on the New York USA labels of Blue Note BLP 4109. The playing surface is in excellent condition, with just a single inaudible scuff on each side and an inaudible handling mark on Side 2; perhaps played once or twice. The laminated New York 23 cover is bright and clean throughout; ¼” scratch at the bottom left corner of the front; the bottom seam has a 1/8” nick and ¼” wear at the opening. Illustrated inner sleeve is included. *The deep-groove is hybrid, meaning that it is very shallow and narrow, but has depth that is absent from a “rim”.
Personnel includes Freddie Hubbard, Dexter Gordon, Butch Warren, and Billy Higgins.
