A sort of super group composed of some of the finest instrumentalists signed to Norway's adventurous experimental label Rune Grammofon, Elephant9 are a fiercely gifted set of improvisers whose release, DODOVOODOO explores the outer reaches of early '70s jazz fusion. Two of the most striking tunes here, "Directions" and "Dr. Honoris Causa," were originally written by the legendary keyboardist/Miles Davis sideman Joe Zawinul.
