This is the very rare US LP release of Karl Münchinger's recapitulation of his classic 1961 recording of the Bach Orchestral Suites, re-recorded here in 1986 with updated digital technology for Decca/London and released in the US as London 414-506-1 and 404-507-1. Made in Holland at the time when US production of LPs had stopped, as the CD market was taking over. I am not entirely sure, but I read that this album was the very last London LP ever produced. In any case it is a great symbol of that moment when the LP was dying. The booklet inside is actually just the CD booklet fit into a plastic holder that holds it in place in the larger box. It was a waste of money to print a full-sized booklet when there were so few of the LPS even produced. Truly the LP version of this wonderful recording is quite hard to find today, as it was very limited. This copy is absolutely mint, and was never played. It has a cutout slot at the lower left but is otherwise immaculate. There is a little light wrinkling at the center of the label on the first disc, but this is only a manufacturing flaw, not a spindle mark. It of course is nothing of any importance anyway. This is a very much mint copy and near impossible to beat.
