The one and only production of "Prettybelle" opened in Boston on February 1, 1971 at the Shubert Theatre and closed on March 6, 1971. It was then scheduled to open on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre on March 15, 1971 but after a very hostile reception in Boston by critics and audiences, the producer, Alexander H. Cohen, wisely cancelled the Broadway opening and closed the show forever.

In 1982 the owner of Original Cast Records, Bruce Yeko, arranged for some members of the 1971 Boston cast to record a LP of the score for the first time and that is the LP we now have for sale.
