The Beatles: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Mono 1st Press. EXTRA DOT. VG+

PLAY TESTED SUNDAY MARCH 27TH

The audio is stunning, and only recently acquiring the record myself, I was surprised at just how good it is. It really is an upgrade on the copies most people have. It’s that good.

Even on the run in on either side, there is very little static/crackle etc.

Very quiet even between tracks, though I heard a few barely audible clicks during She’s Leaving Home’.

Even during ‘Within You Without You’, notorious for being slightly muffled by ‘crackles/pops’ etc, due to the nature of the track, the audio is unblemished.

Very minor crackles on play out of A Day In The Life (as piano note fades).

I’d describe the overall audio experience as minimum excellent (I’ve heard more pops/crackles etc on brand new vinyl). It really is superb.

Visually, again the vinyl is excellent, with very few obvious marks/hairlines.

INFORMATION ON SGT PEPPER

This a mono first press of this seminal 1967 Beatles album, G&L laminated flipback gatefold inside flipback sleeve, with ‘Mono’ PMC 7027 number to rear, and comes with the Peter Blake dark green cut-out inner. (There is no psych red and white inner). Thin spine.

‘Gramophone Co. Ltd.’ rim text, and ‘Sold In U.K. subject’ text; though in this case, this is one of a relatively few number that come with an EXTRA DOT in the ‘subject’ text, and therefore reads

‘SOLD IN.U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS

Vinyl Side 1:

Hairlines and marks, and it’s obviously been enjoyed, but there are no feelable/heavy marks.

Label: Clean and bright, with very little sign of spindle ware. KT Tax Code & EXTRA DOT to ‘subject’ text.

Vinyl Side 2:

As Side 1.

Label: Generally clean and bright, but with some spindle ware, and very slight indent to bottom of centre hole.

Cardboard Cut-Out Insert.

Superb condition, with just the tiniest, barely visible indent to bottom right (near Peter Blake signature).

Plain white non EMI inner has seem split, but would be easily repairable with care.

G/F laminate sleeve has minor creasing, but is graffiti free. Scuffing/age/shelf ware to spine.

Please see all photos, as they form part of the description. More on request.

I’d describe the whole package, as VG+, with an audio quality of excellent.

I tend to be quite conservative in my gradings/descriptions, as I know how disappointing it can be when you purchase a record that doesn’t measure up to the grading, and my previous feedback, which is 100% positive, will indicate the honesty and reliability of my gradings.
